My two School Exam essays

Auto-biography

My first school was Rosewood Downs Primary School. However, during Grade One I shifted to Glen Waverley Primary School. I moved because we changed houses; so my brother could go to a school in that area.

Two years later y brother sat the Melbourne High School (MHS) entrance exam; I wanted to go back to my old school. My mother said that if my brother made it into MHS I could go back to Rosewood Downs. Fortunately he did make it in.

From Grade Four to Grade Six I was at Rosewood Downs. During these years I made many friends, went through many challenges and upheld my faith. Many of my friends are still in contact with via email or/and telephone.

One of my most memorable challenges was being House Captain of Barwon. Barwon was the blue house; houses at my school were named after famous rivers: Yarra (yellow), Rubicon (red), Golburn (green) and Barwon (blue). Despite the fact that being house captain was challenging it was also quite enjoyable, seeming my cousin and best friend were house captains as well. Two of our duties were to run the office during the breaks for at least one day, this included taking calls and making announcements over the loud speaker. Our other duty was to run assembly once a fortnight.

At the end of Grade six I had a choice of going to Dandenong High, Wellington Secondary or Minaret College. I ended up choosing Minaret but it was a hard choice seeming my friends were at Wellington and I had been short-listed for the Dandenong High accelerated program

This year I am in Year Eight and I have sat the MHS entrance exam, like my brother before. I sat the exam on the 16th of June. Now I await my results.

Television: Should it be banned?

Television is part of the new generation. A TV set is installed in nearly all the houses of Australians. But exactly how much good does a television really do? And how much harm does a television cause? And what would Islam say about it?

Television can be either a source of education, a source of entertainment or a tool used to destroy a child’s life. How? On TV they show many informative and interesting documentaries. In these documentaries they will educate you about the subject which can range from war to religion to peace or from animals to the stars. TV can also provide us entertainment, showing us comedy shows or cartoons for children, it would be a great way to relax after a long hard day. Then again TV can also have negative impact on one’s children. On TV they do show violent content or scenes your child shouldn’t be watching. If a child does grow up watching these shows he/she may think of it normal to fight, murder, rape, steal, swear or commit adultery.

Islam would definitely forbid the watching of unacceptable programs where they show inappropriate images. However, on the other hand it would probably be permissible to watch that aren’t unsuitable.

This shows that television, like most things has its ups and downs. However we cannot say we should ban it just because of its downfalls. We should be optimistic and work on reducing the downfalls and improving the positives.

Hemrat and Ariz

this is a really long incompleted story with quiet a few errors, but it still is a nice read

Hemrat and Ariz

Chapter one

The union

He soared through the winds. He had to get away; murder was never accepted in this part of the world though it was considered normal in theirs. Murder was considered an odious crime in the Ended-Earth but not in Evil-Earth. He looked behind him, his pursuers were still there.

Below on the forest flow Hemrat was plucking fruits for his grandmother when he heard a thunderous roar above in the skies. Trepidation nervousness spread over his body as he caught a glimpse of a magnificent green beast crashing down into the forest.

This beast was the Dragon Ariz, dragons haven’t been seen around Hemrat’s home for over a millennium, people thought them a myth.

Hemrat heard a gnarl behind him. The boy spun around and to his horror he saw a Black Walverine. The walverine was a black werewolf like creature except it was fiercer and is always present meaning it doesn’t only come out at full moon.

The brute was double the boy’s height; it glared at the boy with its red eyes.

The green dragon lay motionless on the forest floor; thoughts swirled through his mind, how long would it take for the Black Walverines to find him? What did they want from him? Why was he being chased by them? Ire started to surge through the young dragon’s body, giving him refurnished energy. The dragon slowly but steadily ascended to his feet. He smelt the Walverines around him searching for his green hide. An odd scent pierced the dragon’s senses; the dragon being young did not know the scent of humans. Ariz realised whatever it was, must be in trouble if he could also smell the walverines. Ariz lifted to his wings and saw a small creature wrestling with a Black Walverine. Ariz swooped down and caught the Walverine off guard knocking him into the forest river. The heinous creature gave one more yelp before it was drowned.

Hemrat, with blood dripping down an injury he had suffered on his left arm, stared at the dragon with awe silently praising him with many accolades, realising a creature of legend was right in front of him. Ariz stared at the human in wonder thinking what this creature is called. “What is your name?” Ariz enquired staring at the boy.

“My name is Hemrat of the Eastern Coldar”, replied the boy confidently, Ariz looked at the boys eyes and saw a fiery blaze in them. ‘This boy should be well respected’ he thought to himself.

“My name is Ariz the Green Dragon of the Isolated Lake.”
A creature close by gave a heart-piercing cry. Ariz looked up and realised that the Black Walverines were still on his trail. “We must move Hemrat!”

Ariz lifted into the skies, Hemrat ran on the floor. The cries of the Walverines were getting closer. Hemrat felt a shadow creeping over him; he glanced up and saw the Narus, a dark dragon.

Narus were much bigger and stronger than dragons, they were black and cold hearted. However dragons were more agile and wiser.

The Narus was huge it blackened the ground. It was so dark that for a moment Hemrat couldn’t even see his own brown hands. Ariz was not worried, he knew the Narus, he had spent his childhood running from them; they could hardly even add one plus one. Ariz twirled around and dived under the Narus, “Hemrat, seize onto my tail!’ he roared to the human who was standing there flabbergasted at the scene he witnessed before him. Hemrat hesitated and clutched onto the dragons tail with his right hand and hoisted himself up upon the dragon’s back. The Narus turned around and swooped down at the dragon, Ariz rose on his hind legs and elevated to his wings. When the Narus crashed into the ground, Ariz smashed into the Narus’s back killing the rider and seriously injured the Narus, which would never fly again. Another roar from inside the forest was heard. The second Narus was approaching. Ariz looked at Hemrat with his green eyes blazing, “Hold on tight creature, it’s going to be a bumpy ride.” With that the Narus and Ariz both mounted high into the blue for one more battle.

The two superior beasts circled the skies; casting a large shadow on the floor. Ariz stared into the Narus’s red eyes, the evil beast’s cold voice rang out, “we have met before, haven’t we? Ariz.” The last part he said it with a sinister smile on his face. Memories came back into Ariz’s of his Dragon Land, the land surrounded by dark territory. The land where Ariz was reared, Ariz also remembered Greday. Greday was a Narus the dragon’s age, they were the worst of enemies, and it was all Greday’s doings for Ariz to be banished across the skies into the forest.

Ariz looked across at his opponent. “Greday, you will pay!” The green beast jerked down in for a dive Hemrat was caught unaware and slipped of the dragon’s back... “No!” Hemrat gave a shrill scream as he fell forward into the dark and desolate earth below him. Ariz looked back at his falling companion and lunged down low to fall him from hitting the Earth’s surface; the Narus took advantage of this distraction and drove in straight at the green beast. Hemrat was plummeting to the ground but was fortunately saved by Ariz. The beast behind Ariz rammed into him sending Ariz on another spin. Hemrat refused to let go this time.

“WHAT!” steam rose from Hemrat’s nostrils, this was not possible, how could they do this to him, his own tribe and his own family. It was outrageous. The old chief stared hard at the boy, “Hemrat it was an agonising decision, but you must leave. With or without the dragon it doesn’t matter. Both of you aren’t welcome here anymore.” Hemrat looked around at the multitude of people around him. He looked at his best friend Nurraj, his head was bent down avoiding eye contact with Hemrat. “So boy, be gone!” Hemrat left the village with a heavy heart, it wasn’t his fault Ariz was being chased by the Narus, and it wasn’t even Ariz’s fault he was being chased either. Hemrat sighted Ariz gazing intently into the lake where the Walverine had been drowned. When Ariz noticed Hemrat standing quietly next to him he praised him with many accolades about his courage and bravery when they were against the Narus. Hemrat did the same to his dragon companion. The Green Dragon Ariz was however filled with questions about what type of creature Hemrat was and what he ate and how he slept, so on.

Raging Bull

The bull, named Bull fled into the plains. If the grass here, in the plains, had been shorter, Bull thought he might have been seen, unfortunately for him, his black hide wasn't camouflaging in the yellow. Fraed and Bob spotted him almost instantly.

"'Ey, Freddy! Done dere! Da 'ittle beastie!" said Bob with a heinous enthusiasm in his voice. Their jeep plunged into the yellow plains after Bull.

Bull heard the jeep tearing its way towards him. Anger surged into the now, enraged Bull with every pound of his beating heart. As Bull ran, his hooves thumping against the grassy field, he could sense the evil duo getting closer.

Bull found a new strength as he neared the mountain passes that loomed in front of him. It was the strength and the power one finds when ones life is in danger.

A pass intersection was dead ahead. Bull needed to make a split second decision. Right or left? His instincts said right, but he took left. Bad move, it was a dead end.

The jeep closed in. Fraed lifted his tranquiliser gun to shoot down 'the 'ittle beastie'. Bull had a choice: get caught or, ram through. He pounded his right hoof on the stone floor, steam rose from Bull's nostrils. He let all the rage, anger and hate that ran in his blood explode, as he rammed his horns into the jeep.

Bull ran, he ran for his life. He ran for freedom. But unfortunately he didn't run long. He was exhausted. The pain in his legs was excruciating.

HE had hardly rested for a second. The mean bull catchers, Fraed and Bob had appeared. Bull was too tired to do anything. He gave one last anguished cry for his lost freedom. Bull, once free to roam as he wished, was now a show bull in training.

Raging Bulls

This is the last part of the Raging Bull.

The END.

Marco, the rider looked at Bull. Both of them ad made it this far. To the finals. Marco was dead on determined to win. If he did, he would hold the "World Champion Rodeo" title. Bull wanted the rider to lose. So the his friends would trust him and his plan. His plan to escape. Bull had seen so much loss and fear. He had lived a life of terror and hardship. Today was the day that, this was all going to end.

Marco was up. He was the last rider. He had to beat 7.8 seconds to win the title and 12.7 seconds to break the record. His coach had given words of wisdom. He had been born for this moment.
"3. 2. 1. RELEASE THE BULL!" It was Mark, the main judge who started the event. The battle between man and bull, Marco and Bull commenced.

Bull kicked, thrusted, swerved and snorted to get Marco off his back. two seconds passed. Bull's friends were watching from the barnyard. Waiting and waiting for the plan to unravel.

His friend, Mo-hawk, the rooster stared in shock as he realised Bull was losing. Six point two seconds passed already. Time was flying. All the other bulls stared in disbelief. Would they be trapped here for the rest of their lives?

Seven seconds passed. Bull leaped in the air in a last act of desperation. Marco released grip from the bull from the sudden shock. He was off bull at 7.7 seconds and was flying through the air. He landed safely on his coach's lap. Everyone started to laugh at the hilarious sight.

Suddenly, the ground began rumbling, Marco and all the crowd looked up. Bulls were stampeding across the field, running for freedom. Bull and Mo-hawk were at the front. The evil owners, Fread and Bob picked up their shotguns. They opened fire.

Many bulls were lost in that escape, yet many escaped. Everyone that was present in that field would never forget those raging bulls. As for those raging bulls, they wouldn't ever, ever forget the companions they lost. Especially Mo-Hawk and Bull.

Falling Behind

To. Br Samir

Okay I know when you see my blog you'll be like: "Where are the 18 summaries?!!!"
Well heres the answer. I haven't really had alot of time to read fantasy/fictio or any type of novel and I have had even less time to summarise the novels I've read AND I've had absolutely no-time to go to the library and get new novels to read. So then what have I been doing???

I have been practicing my story writing to try out for the M.H.S exam which is approaching in about six weeks, so I have been punching out two (quality) short stories every week so I can gain experience to pass the examination. Also keep in mind I am doing DAV debating which requires a lot of effort and time.

So because of my mis-fortunes I have been unable to do summarise, so I will publish all those stories I have written on my blog and see what other people think of them, if thats okay with you sir.

Friendz

Dude, I have a great friend
Who supports me to the end
He helps me around every bend
A *"true man" who I can depend (on)

A friend I can trust.
He won't betray me and make me feel like dust.

An honest personality
No, I don't need him to make me a cuppa tea.

That's my friend.

Wizard's Eleven

(this is one of my shorter summaries)

IN the final part of the epic tale Peter realises the twelve pieces in his hand are the gamesmen of Barish. He also learns that the gamesmens bodies await them in the northen mountain. Also Mandor's brother a Demon Huld, is gathering a huge army in Hell's Maw to challenge Peter in a massive game.

But one question remains, will Peter surrender the gamesmen to their bodies or keep them for himself (If you want to know the answer, read the book. Keep in mind it has many twists)

Necromancer Nine

This book is the second in the Peter series of True Game.

In this book Peter is determined to find his mother, little does he know that he will also solve one of the world's greatest mysteries.

Peter's friends Windlow the seer, Higgmary and King Mertyn have gone missing. Peter is also in search for his mother, Mavin Manyshaped. On his journey he encounters a haunted town where he uses his thirteen talent to free it from its curse (he uses the Necromancer talent).

When Peter finds his mother he also learns of two new relatives, his cousins.

Together Peter and his mother Mavin plunge into the lands of Magicians (the place where all the dissapearing people are taken). To try free all the captives. Here Peter learns more about his talents.

King's Blood Four

King's Blood Four is the introduction to a massive series based in the land of True Game.
King's Blood Four, Necromancer Nine and Wizard's Eleven all focus on Peter.

Peter is a student that is learning how to play the "True Game." In the story Peter's family is mysterious he was born nine months in "festival" and left on the doorstep.

Now Peter is 15 and a new festival is approaching. Peter is with his three friends: Chance, Yarrel and Prince Mandor. Chance and Yarrel were a bit busy so Peter stayed with Mandor. Mandor made Peter drunk and then he (Mandor) challenged the King (also leader of the school) Mertyn. Mandor then uses Peter by trying to sacrifice him, but the King didn't let Peter die, so he broke the rules and attacked Mandor instead.

Peter was sent away with Chance and Yarrel to find a "seer" (someone who can see the future) Windlow. The trio go through many challenges, in the middle they find Windlow and they escape back home. But a war is approaching.

During the war Peter finds out Mandor was an evil man who was trying to rule all the lands.
Peter also finds his talents (his talent was using some ancient peices to perform any of the twelve talents).

Peter also has a brief meeting with his mother, Mavin Manyshaped. A Shifter. Whcih mean Peter has two talents, Shifting and the mysterious 13th talent

Ranger's Apprentice: The Ruins of Gorlan

The main character in this story is Will. Will is small for his age, he has no parents. When he was sent to the castle as a baby, there was a note pinned on his chest "his mother died at childbirth. His father died a hero."

Summaries: LOTR: the Two Towers

The Two Towers
J.R.R Tolkein

This book is the second book in a series but is intended to be the middle part of a whole book which was separated into the LOTR series. It is very difficult to wrtie a summary about a story starting from the middle, so I will write the main events that took place.

Book III
This book is based on The Fellowship and the return of Gandalf.

These are the main events in each chapter
1. Boromir is found dying by Aragon. Boromir tells Aragon that the Orcs have captured the Hobbits (Merry and Pippin) however he then passes away. Legolas, Gimli and Aragon put Boromir's body with his armor on a boat and send it off to down the river. They then set off to find Merry and Pippin instead of Frodo and Sam.

2. They chase after the orcs finding many clues about where they are headed when they see the Company of Rohan which is lead by Eamor. Eamor informs them that the orcs had been slain and none left alive.

3. In this chapter it shows how Merry and Pippin were captured and how they escaped from the Orcs during the Riders of Rohan's raid. Also Merry and Pippin escape into the Fangorn Forest.

4. Merry and Pippin meet the great Ent Treebeard and tells him their story. Treebeard calls all the other Ents to a council called an Entmoot. The two Hobbits meanwhile rest. The Ents decide to go and attack Isengard.

5. Aragon and companion find an old man who they thought to be the wicked Saruman of Isnegard but they then realise Gandalf has come back.

6. Gandalf cures the King of Rohan (Theadon) who was under the curse of Saruman and also e kicks out Wormtongue who was Saruman's undercover spy.

7. The army of Rohan and the army of Saruman clash in Helm's Deep

8. The fellowship (Aragon and companions) set off to Isengard, where they find Merry and Pippin.

9. Merry and Pippin tell the story of how the Ents overtook Isengard

10. Saruman uses his magical voice to try persuade the Riders of Rohan to leave the "old man" alone, Theadon nearly falls for his trick when he is rescued by gandalf.
Wormtongue throws the palantir (something like a crystal ball) which misses its target, Gandalf but goes to Pippin.

11. Pippin looks into the palantir and sees Sauron. Gandalf tells Pippin the story about the palantir and to gether they head of to Minas Tirith.

PART II

1. Gollum is captured by Frodo and Sam
2. The ring bearers venture through the Dead Marshes
3. The group arrive at the gate of Mordor, Gollum pleads them not to go in for it is too dangerous, and to travel south.
4. Together they arrive the 'satisfying' country of Ithilien. Sam asks Gollum to catch rabbits to cook; the smoke from the fire causes them to be noticed by some men of Gondor led by Faramir (Boromir's brother).
5. Frodo and Sam are taken by Faramir's men and they are blindfolded on their way to Faramir's hiding spot. Farmir learns from Frodo how Boromir died.
6. Faramir tells Frodo they have seen Gollum at the Forbidden pool and that he will die. Frodo saves him from being shot by Faramir's men.

MY auto-biographical essay/ peice of writing

Birth:My name is Omar Haniffa. I was born in Kuwait 1993. This is my 'story.'

I was supposed to be born in January 1994, however I was born one day earlier (December 31st 1993) due to a unfortunate event.
I had twisted the umbelical cord around my neck and was strangling myself in my mother's womb. The doctors had to cut open my mother's stomach and take me out.

Early Years: During my early years of life I did some pretty silly things. To give an example: Once I covered myself in talcum powder and ascended to the top of my dad's desk.
Also when my sister was born, (just before I turned two) I was sitting with my father watching wrestling on television. I was fasinated by the moves the wrestlers performed so during the break I went to perform the 'belly flop' on my sister. I climbed up, to the top of my sister's cot and I was about to jump when fortunately my father stopped me.

Primary School: I started my primary school at Rosewood Downs and then during grade one I shifted to Glen Waverley however by the start of grade four I was back to Rosewood Downs.
During my primary school time I made lots of friends and I have stayed in contact with most of them via E-mail. Also in Rosewood Downs I was elected house captain alongside with my cousin (who was in the same house as me) and my best friend (in a different house). By being house captain we had the privelage of doing office-duty. It was a very good experience working in the office, taking phone calls and helping younger kids.

1st year at Secondary: Changing from primary to secondary was a huge change for me, when I was changing I had a choice of schools: Wellington, Haileybury and Minaret. I chose Minaret because it was a school for muslims, but that meant I had to leave my best friend who headed off to Haileybury and my cousin who goes to Wellington.
Year Seven was a good year for me. I made four good friends: Javid.M, Hamid, Razzak and Samad. My favourite class was Mathematics because we had the best teacher Mrs. Mehar.

My life now is realy great. This year I plan to sit for the exam to get into Melbourne High so I can beat my brother's score of 98.9 in VCE. After that I want to get a job as an author and a zoo-ologist/enviromentalist/bio-ologist.

Summaries: The Other Wind

This was the first summary I wrote I hope I will write it as good as I did in class, well here goes..

Tho Other Wind
Ursula Le Guin

This is the fifth story in the Earthsea series which began in 'Wizard of Earthsea.'

The story begins with Alder, a village socerer who mends pots. Alder has troubling dreams about his dead wife in the land of the dead speaking to him also known as the Dry Land. In the Dry Land the grass never grows, the stars never move, families and friends pass each other without even knowing.
The dead ask Alder to free them from the place so they can return to Earthsea.

Alder seeks advice of the wizards who send him to Ged the ex-Archmage. Ged (who is the main character of the first book) tells him to see his wife Tenar (main character of second book), Tehanu (a Burnt Child who is supposedly a Dragon) and the King of Havnor (main character in third book). On their journey they are accompanied by Irien a fierce dragon who can look like a human (presumably Tehanu's sister).

The group head off on the journey to unravel the mystery of the dead. It seems that Alder the mender of pots will have to mend the world.

Summaries: The Hobbit

These are my Summaries, they won't be as good as the actual real document because I can't remember everything I wrote and I did not re-read the books plus I read the books over 2-3 weeks ago..

The Hobbit:
Author J.R.R Tolkein
'The Hobbit' is a story based on a hobbit (a creature that looks like a human with curly hair and is only 4 foot tall) by the name of Bilbo Baggins. Bilbo was a very respected hobbit in his comunity because he never went on any adventures of any sort nor did he do peculiar things.(Hobbits are creatures that do not like to go on adventures, however they like to listen to stories about adventures.)

So that is why this book is very special because it is about Mr. Baggins first adventure.

Bilbo is taken by Gandalf the Grey (a Wizard from the story) and thirteen dwarves on a mission to regain the 'Lonely Mountain' which the dwarves had lost to the dragon Smaug. Bilbo is the burglar of the group.
During the adventure Bilbo discovers how interesting adventures are but he still wishes to be home in his comfy chair by the fire. Also on the journey Bilbo meets strange people like Gollum. Bilbo also learns wisdom and becomes very courageous (shown in the end where he betrays the dwarves to try stop the war).

I would reccomend this book to people of all ages because it is very interesting and is also very exciting
